Donald Trump Jr. has strongly dismissed circulating rumors about a potential crypto token linked to Truth Social. The former president’s son called the reports pure misinformation. Meanwhile, opportunistic “Truth”-branded tokens continue to flood the market.
Truth Social has no plans for a memecoin
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) Monday night, Trump Jr. made it clear that Truth Social is not launching a cryptocurrency. “Don’t be fooled by scammers spreading false information,” he wrote. His message came in response to influencer Ran Neuner, who had claimed that a new memecoin was being developed by the same team behind the TRUMP token.
According to data from DEXTools, dozens of tokens using names like “Truth” are currently active across Ethereum and Solana-based platforms. However, none of these projects are officially affiliated with Truth Social or the Trump organization.
World Liberty Financial (WLFI) — a DeFi project with close ties to the Trump family — backed Trump Jr.’s statement. “WLFI is the only DeFi project supported by the Trumps,” the platform posted on X. “Anyone promoting fake Trump tokens is just trying to scam unsuspecting investors.”
Truth Social, launched in 2022, was created as a conservative alternative to mainstream social media platforms. Since its launch, it has grown in popularity among right-wing audiences and Trump supporters. Despite growing interest in political tokens, the company has never officially entered the crypto space.
Interestingly, a recent shareholder letter from late April did mention that Truth Social plans to introduce a rewards-based coin along with a built-in digital wallet. However, this would be a closed-loop loyalty initiative — not a public or speculative memecoin.
Trump Jr.’s firm denial appears aimed at protecting the platform’s users from being misled. In today’s hype-driven market, where memecoins can go viral in hours, scammers often try to exploit well-known brands like Truth Social to promote fake tokens and lure in inexperienced investors.
