DoubleZero to Launch Mainnet-Beta in September 2025

DoubleZero announced it will launch its mainnet-beta this month. The decentralized protocol aims to build a high-performance network layer for blockchains. The project is backed by investors like Multicoin Capital and Dragonfly.

DoubleZero introduces the “N1” base layer to reduce network latency. This layer targets the delays that limit distributed system performance.

High-Speed Network Infrastructure

The system creates a “fast lane” for validators using specialized fiber links. These high-performance links provide extra bandwidth from multiple contributors. DoubleZero claims this setup can cut latency by up to 50% compared to regular internet connections.

Faster block propagation improves validator performance. The network’s native token, 2Z, is a Solana SPL token. It collects fees from users and pays infrastructure providers.

The mainnet-beta will support over 70 global fiber links and 200+ validators worldwide. In a 2024 funding round, DoubleZero raised $28 million to support its growth.

Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana co-founder, praised the launch. He said, “Solana has always had the mission of synchronizing the world’s information at the speed of light, and DoubleZero’s fiber network brings that vision closer to reality.”

Token Model and Network Goals

The 2Z token uses a model that matches supply with real-time demand. Contributors are paid only from fees collected during each epoch. This ensures payments reflect actual bandwidth provided, not market speculation.

DoubleZero is built to support the Solana ecosystem but can work with any blockchain. Its goal is to serve all high-performance distributed systems.

The mainnet launch addresses the physical network layer, a key factor in blockchain scalability. Unlike Layer 1 and Layer 2 solutions, DoubleZero focuses on improving data transmission infrastructure. This approach could enhance decentralization, validator efficiency, and support more demanding on-chain applications.
