ARK Invest Increases Stake in Solmate with $162 Million Purchase
ARK Investment Management LLC (ARK) has boosted its investment in Solmate (Nasdaq: BREA). The firm bought nearly $162 million worth of shares on the open market. This follows ARK’s participation in Solmate’s $300 million funding round.
Solmate’s Transformation and Funding Round
Solmate, formerly Brera Holdings, shifted from sports club ownership to digital assets. The company raised $300 million to build a digital asset treasury on the Solana network. The oversubscribed round attracted investors like ARK Invest, Pulsar Group, RockawayX, and the Solana Foundation.
After the initial investment, ARK purchased an additional 6.5 million BREA shares. These shares were acquired through ARK’s flagship ETFs: ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF. This move strengthens ARK’s position in Solana’s growing institutional ecosystem.
Market Reaction and Institutional Interest
Following ARK’s investment, BREA shares surged 225% in one day, closing at $24.90. The rally coincided with Solana’s (SOL) price rising above $250, up over 20% this month. ARK’s increased stake signals growing institutional demand for Solana-linked assets and tokenized digital treasuries.
By backing Solmate, ARK aligns with a major crypto trend: the rise of tokenized treasuries on fast, low-cost blockchains like Solana.
