Curve Finance Warns Against Fake CRV Airdrop Scams
Curve Finance has warned its community that no official CRV airdrop is planned or ongoing. The project’s official X account stated, “The answer is NO, and any messages about a CRV airdrop are scams!”
This warning follows the spread of fake announcements and fraudulent links on several X accounts. Scammers urged users to join Telegram channels, promising high-value rewards like “$500 worth of CRV” to create urgency and fear of missing out (FOMO).
Past Security Incident Involving Curve’s Official Account
This is not the first time false CRV airdrop claims appeared. In May 2025, Curve’s official X account was hacked. Attackers posted a fake “first CRV airdrop” tweet with a malicious registration link.
Curve’s founder, Michael Egorov, quickly confirmed the hack, stating the breach only affected the X account and no other systems. The fraudulent tweet was deleted soon after, and control of the account was restored.
Curve confirmed that its infrastructure, smart contracts, and user funds remained secure during the incident.
Security Advice for Users
Users are reminded to beware of security threats in crypto. Connecting wallets or signing transactions prompted by suspicious links can lead to complete fund loss.
- Ignore airdrop offers from unverified sources.
- Never connect your wallet or share personal details without verifying official announcements.
- Always double-check information on verified Curve social media accounts.
