BNB Chain’s Official X Account Hacked
BNB Chain’s official X account was hacked this week. Binance Co-Founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao issued an immediate security alert. The breach led to phishing links being posted. These links aimed to trick users into connecting their crypto wallets and risking their funds.
CZ Warns Users Not to Connect Wallets
The first confirmation came from BNB Chain’s Chinese X account. It warned followers not to click any links. Shortly after, CZ posted on X: “ALERT The @BNBCHAIN X account may have been compromised.” He urged users to avoid recent links and said teams were investigating.
The hacked account posted a fake message asking users to vote on an “upcoming $BSC rewards date.” It promised early $BSC rewards within 24 hours. This phishing tactic aimed to steal wallet access.
Later, CZ confirmed the hack. He said the hacker posted phishing links asking for Wallet Connect access. “Do NOT connect your wallet,” he warned. Binance’s security teams contacted X to suspend the account. They also requested takedowns of phishing sites. CZ advised users to check domains carefully and stay safe.
BNB Chain Urges Vigilance Amid Investigation
Phishing campaigns like this are common in crypto hacks. They often use fake rewards or offers to lure users. BNB Chain has not revealed how the breach happened. Binance has not commented yet. The team continues to investigate and work on restoring the account.
