Chainlink Partners with FTSE Russell to Publish Market Indices On-Chain
Chainlink, a blockchain data infrastructure company, has partnered with FTSE Russell, a top global index provider. This collaboration will place FTSE Russell’s market indices on public blockchains for the first time.
The partnership will bring data from major indices, including the Russell 1000, Russell 2000, Russell 3000, and FTSE 100, on-chain via Chainlink’s DataLink system. It will also cover other equity, currency, and digital asset benchmarks. This expands access to verified financial data across blockchain networks.
FTSE Russell manages indices that benchmark roughly $18 trillion in global assets. By putting this data on public blockchains, users can access and verify it directly. Chainlink said this reduces reliance on intermediaries for official benchmark data. It supports more transparent and secure market information in digital systems.
How DataLink Connects Benchmarks to Blockchains
DataLink is a system that secures data sharing between providers and blockchain networks. It uses Chainlink’s existing network to deliver verified data on-chain without building new infrastructure. The system has been widely adopted in blockchain markets.
FTSE Russell CEO Fiona Bassett stated the company aims to distribute benchmark data securely across blockchain networks. She said DataLink gives institutions and developers the same high-quality data that powers traditional finance.
Chainlink Co-Founder Sergey Nazarov called the collaboration a key step. He described it as linking established financial data with blockchain systems. The integration delivers verified benchmark information directly to markets on-chain.
Chainlink’s Recent Expansions in Real-World Data
- In August, Chainlink launched Data Streams with real-time U.S. equities and ETF prices. These streams cover assets like SPY, QQQ, Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft on 37 blockchain networks.
- The system updates prices in under a second, aiding DeFi platforms and blockchain apps with precise market data.
- Last month, BNB Chain integrated Chainlink to bring official U.S. Department of Commerce economic statistics on-chain. This includes GDP, PCE Price Index, and Real Final Sales.
- Developers can now build blockchain apps that use verified government data without relying on centralized intermediaries.
