CME Group Launches Options on Solana and XRP Futures
On October 13, 2025, CME Group introduced options on Solana (SOL) and XRP futures. These products are now available on the CME trading platform in the United States. The options are regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Flexible Options Designed for Traders
The new options come in standard and micro sizes. They offer flexible expiry dates, including daily, monthly, and quarterly expirations. These options are physically settled into the underlying futures contracts. This design supports both professional and retail traders with smooth integration.
Giovanni Vicioso, Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products at CME Group, said the options add “additional choice and greater flexibility” for managing exposure to Solana and XRP. He noted the launch builds on the growing liquidity of CME’s Solana and XRP futures.
Strong Institutional Demand Drives Product Launch
The launch follows strong performance of CME’s futures products. Since March 2025, over 540,000 Solana futures contracts have traded, valued at about $22.3 billion. XRP futures, introduced in May 2025, reached more than 370,000 contracts, totaling $16.2 billion.
Both futures hit record trading volumes in August 2025. CME Group attributes this growth to increasing institutional interest in these crypto assets.
