David Schwartz to Step Down as Ripple CTO
David Schwartz, Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer for over 13 years, will leave his daily role by the end of 2024. He announced this in a post on X, reflecting on his 40-year career. Schwartz highlighted his work with the NSA and his early observations of Bitcoin. He called his time at Ripple “one of the greatest honors” of his life, after his family.
Schwartz thanked Ripple’s leadership, including CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Monica Long, and Chris Larsen. He also praised the RippleX team, developers, and the XRP Ledger (XRPL) community. He acknowledged Arthur Britto for his innovative ideas and the community’s efforts in making the XRP Ledger successful.
Continuing Role in XRP Community
Although stepping down as CTO, Schwartz will remain active in the XRP community. He will serve as CTO Emeritus and join Ripple’s Board of Directors. He expressed excitement about returning to coding and collaborating with developers.
Schwartz has been running his own XRP Ledger node and exploring new uses for XRP beyond Ripple’s current projects. He is optimistic about the XRPL’s future. Schwartz believes new leaders, including Ripple’s Senior Vice President of Engineering Dennis Jarosch, will advance the ledger.
Engagement with Developers and Supporters
Schwartz plans to attend XRP community events worldwide. He aims to stay connected with developers and supporters as the XRP Ledger evolves.
