GSR Plans Digital Asset Treasury Companies ETF
Crypto trading and market-making firm GSR plans to launch its first exchange-traded fund (ETF) focused on companies holding digital assets. According to a regulatory filing, the GSR Digital Asset Treasury Companies ETF will not invest directly in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ether.
Instead, the ETF will invest in public companies that hold cryptocurrencies in their corporate treasuries. GSR expects the fund to hold 10–15 positions across 5–10 companies. These may include firms investing in altcoins.
Potential holdings include Strategy Inc. (MSTR), CEA Industries (BNC), and Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR). The filing states the ETF will allocate at least 80% of its assets to publicly traded companies that maintain significant digital asset holdings.
Other Crypto ETFs Planned by GSR
GSR is also planning four additional crypto ETFs:
- Core3 ETF
- Ethereum Staking Opportunity ETF
- Crypto StakingMax ETF
- Ethereum YieldEdge ETF
These funds will focus on staking and related strategies. Some will use offshore subsidiaries to stake Ethereum or invest in staking products.
Details on Ethereum Staking and YieldEdge ETFs
The Ethereum Staking and YieldEdge ETFs will be managed through offshore subsidiaries. This allows them to purchase and stake Ethereum while complying with U.S. Investment Company Act of 1940 regulations.
The Ethereum Staking ETF will mainly invest in offshore Ether staking ETFs. The YieldEdge ETF will use an actively managed derivatives strategy. The StakingMax ETF will invest in cryptocurrencies and securities tied to proof-of-stake networks via an offshore subsidiary.
Ethereum Staking Opportunity and Crypto Core3 ETFs
The Ethereum Staking Opportunity ETF aims to track Ethereum price movements plus staking rewards. It will charge a yearly management fee of about 1%, with minimal other fees.
The Crypto Core3 ETF plans to track Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana. It may hold these tokens directly. The fund intends to invest roughly one-third of its assets in each token to provide exposure to the three leading digital assets.
GSR’s ETF launches come amid growing interest from asset managers in crypto and staking-focused funds.
