MetaMask, a popular self-custody cryptocurrency wallet, revealed plans for its new MetaMask Rewards program. The program will distribute over $30 million in LINEA token incentives during its first season.
The announcement was made on X (formerly Twitter) as MetaMask expands beyond basic wallet functions. It has already added features like token swaps, staking, and portfolio management.
Program Features and Eligibility
MetaMask described the rewards program as a genuine way to give back to its community. The full rollout is expected within a few weeks. Users can claim eligible tokens directly through the MetaMask Portfolio interface.
The company emphasized the program is not a farming scheme. Rewards will include referral bonuses, mUSD incentives, exclusive partner rewards, and token access.
Long-time MetaMask users will receive special benefits. The program will also connect to a future MetaMask native token, hinting at upcoming developments.
Partnership with Linea and Future Plans
The $30 million rewards focus on the LINEA token. This highlights MetaMask’s collaboration with Linea, an Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution developed by ConsenSys, MetaMask’s parent company.
