Rezolve AI Acquires SmartPay to Boost Digital Asset Payments
Rezolve AI, a platform combining AI, commerce, and payments, has acquired SmartPay. SmartPay is a stablecoin payment company with over $1 billion in annual transaction volume. The acquisition was announced on October 7 in a press release. It gives Rezolve the infrastructure to integrate digital assets like USDT into mainstream retail payments. SmartPay has processed over $19 million in commercial transactions.
Building a Fee-Free Blockchain Payment Network
This acquisition supports Rezolve’s partnership with Tether, the issuer of USDT stablecoin. Rezolve plans to combine SmartPay’s payment rails with its “Brain Checkout” technology. The goal is to create a blockchain payment network that removes traditional merchant fees.
Daniel M. Wagner, CEO of Rezolve AI, said, “SmartPay gives Rezolve a proven, transaction-tested foundation to scale our digital asset payment initiative globally. By combining SmartPay’s live payment rails with Rezolve’s Brain Checkout technology, we can deliver merchants a fast, simple, and fee-free way to accept digital assets, bridging the gap between blockchain and everyday commerce.”
The new system will let consumers pay instantly using digital assets like USDT, Bitcoin (BTC), and Ethereum (ETH). Merchants will receive instant settlement in fiat currency.
Expanding Reach in Emerging Markets
SmartPay’s network is active in high-growth markets such as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Angola. It processes millions of stablecoin transactions annually in these regions. This acquisition extends Rezolve’s reach into key emerging markets. It also provides a tested model for scaling digital asset payments in North America, Asia, and Europe.
The deal will speed up Rezolve’s development of Agentic Commerce. This concept involves AI agents autonomously conducting transactions. With SmartPay’s payment technology, Rezolve aims to build a platform where AI agents can discover, compare, negotiate, and complete purchases instantly using digital assets.
